Sailing a Corsair F-27, with no motors allowed and many miles from any help, the competition can be too dangerous for the world’s most fearless sailors. Pulse 600...responsive balanced helm, quick tacks and clean gybes

Story by Ross Stein...San Francisco Bay — Giacomo Bassi, a foreign exchange student from Milan, is driving Pulse #49. We were making a steady 13 knots going to weather, against the flood, in about 12-14 kits of breeze in a flat water. A dinghy and mono sailor who had never stepped on tri, he instantly got in the groove, sailing her flawlessly through multiple tacks and gybes, hitting 15 kt on a close spin reach. The responsive balanced helm, quick tacks and clean gybes, open uncluttered... Read More »

Heceta Head Lighthouse and Point Lookout Lighthouse

It's that spooky time of year again! Here's a good read... Built in 1892, by a crew of 58, the Heceta Head Lighthouse stands 56 feet tall and shines a beam viewable up to 21 miles away. In 1978, both the lighthouse and its Keepers Quarters were placed on the National Register of Historic Places for "architectural and historical significance". The honor is no joke either - thanks to the relatively isolated location of Heceta Head, the required building materials had to be shipped in during the... Read More »

Experience a Pulse on the Bay!

SAUSALITO — This new 20-foot model has the same well-engineered structure for folding the amas as the original Corsair, as well as a gin pole and tackle to raise the mast. The boat is also stable enough to be left afloat folded up, which many owners do in between sailing sessions to make getting underway that much easier.   Then there's the boat's performance. In moderate winds, the Pulse 600 is slippery and a joy to knock around in. In strong winds, the boat will be a veritable adrenaline... Read More »
