Corsair Fleet at Fort McRee Beach BBQ

Something like 26 boats out of 35 or so assembled this afternoon on the beach at Fort McRee. I had forgotten what a pretty place it is. The weather is now perfect, warm but not too hot during the day. The boats sailing to Fort McRee from the Pensacola Yacht Club had a nice spinnaker run and screacher reach to the vicinity of Fort McRee before sailing upwind the last mile in gustier conditions with main and jib. Here are two shots of the fleet anchored, just before the gourmet barbeque was... Read More »

Our Greek Sailing Adventure!

This is about a 4 weeks ago, we sailed 1000 miles on a Corsair F24 MKII, starting from Athens Greece, out to Corfu island and back again, with the return being around Peloponissos. We went up and down most of the Greek West Coast. We made a brief - sort of a joke - video during the break between the outward and return legs, watch it here: Google photo stories: Outwards: https://plus.google.com/+GeorgeTheotokis/stories/f06fdd73-ac2c-3e05-8655-861f22726558146f8928986 Return: https://plus.google.com... Northwest Passage - on a Corsair F-31 trimaran

Here is amazing story brought to us from Sail World.com. Enjoy! Borge Ousland and Thorleif Thorleifson from Norway in a Corsair 31ft Trimaran, doing the Northeast Passage first, West to East, then the Northwest Passage. It's summer again in the cold Arctic and the expected group of sailing adventurers are off to see if they can transit the once dreaded Northwest Passage.  No-one knows in advance just what sort of ice-free summer it will be, but in 2009, the brave yachts that tried it found much... Bermuda to St Martin, and everything in between

This is a picture of me on my Corsair Carbon C37 on the annual southen passage I sail between Bermuda and St Martin. I love sailing this route and just thought I would share this memory with you all! I personally have sailed and owned just about every model produced by Corsair over the years and can't imagine owning any other kind of boat. This C37 was customized and set up for single handed, with halyards running back to cockpit - just amazing! Thanks again for the best memories with your sail... Read More »

Being a member of the larger cruising community.

I found this wonderful article from Ellen Sanpere I'd like to share. Cruising has been defined as, “fixing your boat in exotic places,” and when something breaks, Tony or I must determine how to repair or replace it, preferring to repair it, of course. When outside help is required, we look first to our neighbors, then to local marine services, and only then to strangers from the phone book. We can accept the help of the cruisers anchored nearby because we have done something for them (or... Read More »
